Lady Players Section
We have a thriving ladies section across all levels from beginners to competitive players, some of whom play for the county.
Our mentor system has been warmly welcomed by new members. Appointed mentors help you to get to know the ropes at the club and integrate into our friendly ladies section. This along with our Ladies-in-Golf Charter provides encouragement and confidence-building support.
Ladies medal, stableford and trophy competitions are hosted on Tuesdays, with opportunities to compete on Sundays as an alternative. Matches are hosted against other clubs both at home and away.
Junior and Young Adult Players Section
We have a vibrant young player section many of whom are rapidly becoming accomplished golfers, a testament to the club’s coaching staff.
Beginner coaching focuses course safety, management and etiquette. Then more tailored lessons advance them from novice to full handicap and on to competitive-level golf.
A junior section team is entered each year into the Mercian Golf League with matches against other clubs.
The Seniors Section has a very strong following and represents a large proportion of membership at South Staffs.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings see a seniors roll-up or ‘fiddle’; it’s an informal competition and a great way to meet (currently suspended due to Covid-19).
Inter Club matches with many local clubs are arranged each season and regular Seniors’ Section Stableford competitions are held, usually two per month in autumn/winter and one per month in spring/summer, with an annual trophy open to all qualifying winners.
A Super Sevens Competition runs throughout the season which aggregates the best 7 scores from the Seniors’ Stableford Competitions with a trophy for the overall winner.
Winter Pairs and Singles Knock-Out Competitions are held from October. There is also a special trophy competition for players over 75 years of age.
